Spanish grammar
Spanish grammar, one topic per chart: how verbs conjugate in the main tenses, when to use ser and when estar, the preterite and the imperfect, the subjunctive and commands, the personal pronouns, the articles and the gender of nouns, por and para, and the numbers. Start with the cheat sheet for the essentials on one page.
Every table is printed from our curated rules of Spanish grammar, and the verb tables from a small fixed set of model verbs: the regular hablar, comer and vivir, and irregular verbs such as ser, estar, ir, tener and hacer. The forms are those of Spain, with vosotros; in Latin America ustedes takes its place. Preparing for the DELE? The exam guide explains how each of its papers is built and scored.

questions
Which Spanish grammar should I learn first?
The present tense of regular verbs, ser and estar, the articles and the gender of nouns, and the personal pronouns. The present perfect (he hablado), the preterite, the imperfect, commands and the future come next, and the present subjunctive after them.
Do I need to learn vosotros?
For Spain, yes: in most of Spain vosotros is the informal plural 'you', with its own verb forms (habláis, comisteis). In Latin America ustedes is used for every plural 'you' and takes the same verb form as ellos.
