AWS certification practice: free questions, flashcards and a timed mock

Free practice for AWS certification: original questions with a worked explanation for every answer, flashcards and a timed mock exam. Today the course holds one exam, the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C03).

You practise the way the exam asks: scenario questions in its two response types, multiple choice and multiple response, grouped by the four exam domains and by service area — IAM, networking, storage, databases, containers and serverless, migration and cost. Each question says why the right answer is right and why every distractor is wrong, and links the AWS documentation behind it.

What you practise

The SAA-C03 rests on four domains, and the questions here are grouped the same way, so you can see which one you quietly avoid. Within a domain they go by service area, and every domain has dedicated choose-two sets, because a multiple-response question is right only when the whole set of answers is.

The four domains and their weight in the scored content:

  • Design Secure Architectures, 30% — access control with IAM, securing workloads and networks, encryption and key management
  • Design Resilient Architectures, 26% — high availability and failover, decoupling with queues and events, backup and disaster recovery
  • Design High-Performing Architectures, 24% — choosing the compute, storage, database, networking and data-ingestion services a workload's performance needs
  • Design Cost-Optimized Architectures, 20% — cost-aware choices for storage, compute, databases, networking and data transfer

How the course works

Open a question set on the practice page, answer, and read the explanation: it says why the right answer is right and what is wrong with each distractor, with a link to the AWS documentation behind it. The questions are grouped by domain and by service area, so a weak spot is easy to find and drill.

What you can do:

  • quizzes on question sets, by domain and by service area — no account needed
  • flashcards: service one-liners, the Well-Architected pillars and pick-the-service matching decks — no account needed
  • a timed mock exam: 65 questions in 130 minutes, 20 on security, 17 on resilience, 15 on performance and 13 on cost — with a free account

Your goal: the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate

A goal is the exam you are practising for. This course holds one today; its facts below are taken from our SAA-C03 guide, which has the format, scoring, fee and registration in full.

AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate (SAA-C03)

AWS's associate-level certification in designing solutions on AWS, for people in a solutions architect role. AWS recommends at least a year of hands-on experience designing cloud solutions on its services — a recommendation, not an entry requirement.

The questions are scenario-based, so building the things they describe makes them far easier to read.

frequently asked questions

Is the AWS practice free?

Yes. Every question set and flashcard deck needs no account. The timed mock exam needs a free account, and during the public beta the number of sittings is not limited.

Which AWS exam does it cover?

The AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, exam code SAA-C03. It is the one AWS exam this course holds today; the guide has its format, scoring, fee and registration.

Do the questions come from the exam?

No. They are original practice questions written for this course, not items from any exam. wspell is independent of any exam provider and has no access to exam content.

How do the mock exam and the pass line work?

The timed mock draws 65 questions across the four domains — 20 on security, 17 on resilience, 15 on performance and 13 on cost — under a 130-minute clock. Our pass line is 72%, an approximation of AWS's 720 out of 1,000: AWS scales its scores and publishes no raw cut-off.

Does a good score here mean I will pass?

No practice can promise that. Use the mock to see whether you run out of time and which domain you avoid, and keep every wrong answer in one list; the guide has more on how to prepare.

Do I need AWS experience or an AWS account?

You need no AWS account to practise here. AWS recommends at least one year of hands-on experience designing cloud solutions before the SAA-C03; the questions are scenario-based, so building the things they describe makes them much easier to read.

Who runs the AWS exam, and where do I book it?

AWS Training and Certification runs it. You schedule through your AWS Certification Account, at a Pearson VUE test centre or as an online proctored exam. wspell is independent and runs no exams.
